Roller Info – MOPD Selection in EasySelect

We continuously work on improving our products and providing added value for our customers. In our selection software Roller EasySelect, you can now choose between two MOPD variants when selecting the superheat controller EVD ice for the electronic expansion valve (when using the natural refrigerant CO2).

Intuitive, cost-efficient, and user-friendly configuration – made in Germany.

Why MOPD Selection Matters

The correct configuration of an electronic expansion valve determines the efficiency, control stability, and operational reliability of your refrigeration system. A key parameter is the MOPD – Maximum Operating Pressure Differential, which defines the maximum pressure difference Δp across the valve that ensures reliable opening, regulation, and closing.

Especially in systems using the natural refrigerant R744 (CO2), the required MOPD depends on the system design and is specified by the condensing unit or rack manufacturer. If the wrong MOPD is selected, the system may not function correctly — the valve might not open despite a cooling demand, as it cannot overcome the high pressure.

Walter Roller offers valves with both high and low MOPD in combination with the EVD ice controller. After selecting the EVD ice accessory in EasySelect, you can now choose the desired MOPD variant. Only after making this selection will the corresponding air cooler data sheet be generated:
